Types of Embroidery
Not all types of embroidery are the same. Look through the different methods below to help determine what you want for your project.

Standard (Flat) Embroidery
What it is: The most common type–stitching the design directly onto the fabric so it lays flat.
Best for: Polo shirts, jackets, hats, and uniforms.
Highlights: Clean, professional, and versatile; ideal for logos and names.

Patch Embroidery
What it is: The design is embroidered onto a separate piece of fabric, which is then stitched or heat-applied to the final garment.
Best for: Uniforms, hats, jackets, and bags.
Highlights: Durable and versatile; easy to produce in bulk and ideal for organizations like police, fire, or military that need consistent, high-quality patches.

3-D Puff Embroidery
What it is: Foam is placed under the stitching to create a raised, dimensional effect.
Best for: Baseball caps, team wear, and fashion apparel.
Highlights: Bold, eye-catching finish–commonly used for initials, mascots, or simple logos.

Appliqué Embroidery
What it is: Uses complementary fabric such as twill or vinyl and included into the embroidery. Often used with tack twill for large sports logos or numbers.
Best for: Jackets, full front/back designs or large logos.
Highlights: Cost-effective for large designs and adds texture and visual contrast.

Hat Embroidery
What it is: Specialized embroidery adapted for curved surfaces and structured caps.
Best for: Trucker hats, beanies, fitted or snapback caps.
Highlights: Requires specific hooping and machines for percise placement.

Monogramming
What it is: Embroidering individual initials, names, or numbers.
Best for: Personal gifts, towels, robes, bags, uniforms.
Highlights: Adds a personalized touch—popular for both corporate gifts and school items.

Large Format Embroidery
What it is: Oversized embroidery done on jacket backs or large garments.
Best for: Jackets, coats, blankets.
Highlights: Makes a big impact; used for intricate logos or team branding.
